Is the Xerox Mobile Scanner Good? ‘Very Good’ Says PC Magazine

PLEASANTON, Calif. – The news is good, “very good” indeed about the Xerox Mobile Scanner. That’s the rating it received March 31 from PC Magazine, the popular go-to source for reviews of computers and related products. Reviewers wrote “scanning with the Mobile Scanner couldn’t be easier.”

Xerox (NYSE: XRX) is celebrating the awards and recognition won by its Xerox Mobile Scanner, launched just four months ago. To date, the cordless mobile scanner has won the PC Magazine Editors’ Choice Award; received a near perfect 4.5 out of 5 star rating from PC World Magazine, Network World Magazine and About.com and garnered positive reviews from The New York Times, Computerworld and Laptop Magazine.

David Pogue at The New York Times wrote, “Xerox has done a beautiful job of making its machine solid, simple and competent.” After putting the scanner through a thorough review, Pogue determined that “the scans are clean, straight and sharp. You’d have a hard time telling them apart from the work of a big-footprint desktop flatbed home scanner.”

The Xerox Mobile Scanner is the first battery powered scanner that includes a 4GB custom Eye-Fi card that uses Wi-Fi to wirelessly transmit JPG images and multipage PDF files from the scanner to computers, mobile phones, pads and the cloud. A truly mobile device in every sense of the word, Xerox Mobile Scanner gives users the power to take the information in their hand and share it with the world in seconds. Using a free mobile app, the device is able to communicate wirelessly to a PC, Android®, Mac®, iPhone®, iPad®, iPod® touch, or the Cloud.

Recent reviews gave the highest marks to these features:

  • No wires or cables needed
  • Battery delivers up to 300 pages per charge
  • Ability to scan without a computer
  • Wireless (WiFi) transfer of scans to a smartphone or computer.

Reviewers at PCWorld.com said the Xerox Mobile Scanner “…delivers on its promise of quickly creating scans in popular formats and moving them wirelessly to PCs, mobile devices, or the Web. While smartphone cameras can do some of this work for smaller documents, business travelers with more serious scanning needs should find the Xerox Mobile Scanner a versatile and useful tool.”

Pricing, Availability

The Xerox Mobile Scanner has a U.S. list price of $249.99 and is available immediately through retail and online channel partners, major resellers, and Xerox and its agents and dealers.
